Audience and Industry: blog tasks

 Audience 1) Who is the target audience for Doctor Who? Has it changed since 1963?Long-running which shows it appeals to mainstream audience (age 10-40+) this shows that people are interested in the show since it been going on since  1963.Mainstream family audience – broad appeal as millions of people watch the BBC. an Unearthly Child given PG certificate – parental guidance. 2) What audience pleasures are offered by Doctor Who - An Unearthly Child? Apply Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory to the episode. Make sure you provide specific examples from the episode to support your ideas. Personal Identity: maybe the dynamic between Suzan and doctor who this can be relatable for people who are raised and live with  his grandparents.  Personal Relationships: I think the audience will most likely to follow the teachers on there journey as the teachers  represent the audience  and there naivety in the world of dr who as they explore the world. Diversion (Escapism): classic 

Language and Representation: blog tasks

  1) Write a summary of the notes from our in-class analysis of the episode. You can use your own notes from the screening in class or   this Google document of class notes   (you'll need your GHS Google login).  Camerawork and sound   Music - theme tune to Doctor Who. Very science-fiction - sets genre from beginning.  Graphics on screen: title of show and episode. Simple text/font.     Slow, clunky camera movement (due to technology in 1960s).  Sound: hum of TARDIS (helps create science-fiction genre).   these thing in the first clip show us the age that this was created in and everything for example t he clunky camera movement this show that the camera movement and Technology made it difficult for them to make the the episode flow right.   Also these things effected the camerawork and sound: Flashback scenes - close-ups of Susan to show her emotion or misunderstanding.   Medium shot of Doctor holding vase with teachers in background - makes Doctor look evil. Introduction to TV drama: blog tasks

  1) How does this  His Dark Materials  trailer meet the conventions of a TV drama series? Dramatic narrative, usually linear (with continuity across episodes.) This is called a  narrative arc  where the story goes across the series. Ensemble cast (characters with own storylines). Sometimes an episode will focus more on one character or another. Specific technical codes e.g. realistic lighting and editing for social dramas to keep it gritty. Common use of flashback, point of view shots, dialogue and voice over, enigma and action codes throughout. 2) What genre (or genres) are suggested by this  His Dark Materials  trailer?  The dark materials trailer gives off  sci-fi and fantasy  vibe nut it also fills like a family  drama you would sit down and watch with your family. 3) What kind of characters and narratives are introduced in this trailer? the narratives  used are of parallel   dimensions  or worlds people going   missing 4) What settings appear in the trailer? alternate  worlds 5)

  Arctic Monkeys: Audience 1) What is the main Arctic Monkeys audience - demographics and psychographics? the main graphic is the UK but really England but really Sheffield and s for people that can relate to what artic monkeys are doing drinking and partying 2) What audience pleasures are offered by the music video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor?   Diversion, Personal relationships,  global success. Fans feel like they ‘know’ the band members. Personal identity 3) Pick out three particular shots, scenes or moments in the video that would particularly appeal to Arctic Monkeys fans. Why did you choose those moments?  close  up  moving shot and  over the shoulder i  chose these these all show us and focusing on something for example the close up shows us the guitar which is giving the 80ws sound. 4) How did fans take a leading role in making Arctic Monkeys famous back in 2005?  the spread there music on my space which led to there success 5) How are fans positioned to respond
