Tatler: case study blog tasks

 1) Look at the Tatler Media Pack. Go to page 2: how does the editor introduce the magazine? 

It's described    ‘‘TATLER IS A FABULOUSLY Targeted sensesationly accurate rifle shot to the  very richest readers in the country. Theses people live the life reflected on our pages, both physical and virtual.


2) Now go to page 4 of the Media Pack. Focus on the print magazine (NOT tatler.com - the website). List the key demographic details: age, gender %, ABC1 % (social class), HHI (Household Income), % of those living in London and the South East. What do these demographic details suggest about the average Tatler reader?
 73% female readers and 705 are from London

3) Look at page 6. What do Tatler readers think about fashion? How much do they spend? 
They love designer fashion and spend  834 million.

4) Go to page 10. What are the special editions of Tatler that run throughout the year? 
What does this suggest about the Tatler audience? What about the psychographic audience group that best fits Tatler? they spend 1.3 billion on holidays which shows us they are upper class n society.

1) What different examples of typography can you find on the cover of Tatler?
 What are the connotations of the serif and sans serif fonts? For the title  Tatler  they are using  serif font which is see as more sophisticated and posh/ upper class like.

2) How do the cover lines appeal to the Tatler target audience? 
 everything about   it screams upper class from the font   and its elegant.

3) What are the connotations of the Tatler colour scheme on this particular front cover?
 they use a  autumn/spring template by using colours like red brown and white so I guess a bit of winter as well.

4) How is the central image designed to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. 
(E.g. the model, the mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)
  they use an upper claas women who is surrounded by zebras .


Representations

1) What celebrities or famous people are mentioned on the cover? Why do you think Tattler put them on the cover?   
  Emma Weymouth  this is done to show us that there are black people among the upper class.

2) What do the cover lines suggest about the lifestyle of rich people in the UK? 
This suggest that there lifestyle   are very unorthodox  and they do thing Wc people cant do because we don't find it entertaining 

3) Looking at the image and cover lines together, what different groups of people are represented on the cover and how are they represented? (E.g. men/women/rich people/race & ethnicity etc.)
 women  are more sexualized  and they are used more in this advert this is because its  was created by a women. 

4) Are there any stereotypes being reinforced or subverted? How? Why? this reinforces the stereotype of   Caucasians being  at the top of the ladder as the magazine is mainly represented with white celebrities.  


Social and cultural contexts

1) What types of people are NOT featured in Tatler? (Watch the clip above again if you need help with this - the clue is in the title 'Posh People')
 the working class are not featured since they are shown to target upper class and they are very different to the wc from the  things they do to entertain themselves to the way they dress .

2) Tatler runs special issues on holidays, spa breaks, cosmetic surgery, watches and jewellery and private schools. What does this suggest about the magazine's representation of life in Britain?
  they are suggesting that life in Britain can br boring and they should go escape abroad and go on holiday to resort's.  

3) What audience groups might be offended or insulted by the front cover of Tatler? 
different ethnic groups and the working class.

4) Find  other front covers for Tatler from different months. What issues, subjects or people are regularly featured in Tatler? 
one cover is of Megan Markle   which show u the type of people on a taller cover the rich and famous and those who affect the world.
